The embattled national chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Edo State, Chief John Oyegun, has reacted to the statement by the embattled national chairman of the APC, Ahmed Bola Tinubu, over the statement credited to him that he asked Oyegun to resign.
Oyegun said the outgoing governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, was behind his ordeal and the renewed campaign to remove him as party chairman to pave the way for him to emerge as party chairman by November after he has finished his tenure.
“Governor Oshiomhole is behind the call by Tinubu to remove me as Chairman. He did it before when we newly won the 2015 elections. He led other governors and senators to protest against my continued stay as chairman. He has started again, accusing me of not doing enough for his governorship candidate. I told him I am not happy with his style of politics. I am not in support of imposition because APC started the campaign against godfatherism. We are in a new democratic order and we won’t allow scallywags and moneybags to hijack our party. I cannot force Oshiomhole’s candidate on the party and on the people. Ondo is a different case entirely.” Oyegun said
