Reliable information available to Us indicate that the outgoing governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole, and the IGP, Friday, met with the DIGs at the Force Headquarters, Abuja to plot unethical means of manipulating the result of the Edo 2016 election. Oshiomhole also met with the INEC boss.
Adams Oshiomhole called for the meetings, apparently with the nod of the president, to help him and his party to change the course of his defeat.
For the police, Adams Oshiomhole complained that local police in Edo state are against his party. He said the IG should appoint only mainly northern police men to man the election in Edo state. They agree also to arrest marked PDP unit heads, canvassers and leaders who are going to the election with their teams so as to disorganize the PDP plan of “settling voters” at the fields.
Our informant, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed to us that the meetings held at different times, same day, one with a reluctant INEC boss and the other with a willing police boss.
Seventy five million naira was handed over to the reluctant INEC boss on Friday. He was tasked to release only 60% of voting materials on election day whereas 40% would be handed over to Adams Oshiomhole. They reasoned that whereas PDP may get higher votes of the released 60%, APC would get over 10% and when added to the 40% already traded with INEC, APC would get a rather slim victory, nevertheless.
Our source said that the INEC boss had initially disagreed with the plot saying that this would be his first full election to be conducted. He said he wanted to use the Edo election to prove to the world that he is a trustworthy umpire but pressure from the presidency prevailed on him to budge.
Our informant also added that part of the strategy to rig the election was to corrupt the INEC server so that APC hackers, who are currently cramped at a hotel at Ikpokpan road in Benin, would find it easy to hack into the corrupted server of INEC and transmit doctored result while the e-collation is on going.
Also part of the strategy was for the INEC to accept to use a specially manufactured pen to write down results on the sheets. The result written down would reflect the true voting so that all the agents would sign the result sheet and let the INEC officials to go ahead and transmit the result. The trick however is that the special pen used in writing the result has ink that would vanish within 18 hours.
This strategy, our informant said, would enable the election be violence free but fraught with rigging that cannot be upturned by the court because the result sheets would bear the signature of all the agents but a false result.
While the above are ongoing, and the real results are trending on social media and in the PDP situation room, the INEC boss would fly to Abuja on a prepared chopper and announce a predetermined result that would favour the APC. They said the PDP can then be asked to go to court.
Whereas, 24 hours later, before the PDP gets any injunction by the court to produce the election materials to the court for safe keeping, INEC would get back to work to doctor the cleaned result sheets to tally with what has been announced in Abuja. This, they hope, would make PDP case to be weak in court.
Our source has audio recording of many if the revelation made in this report and she is willing to present them in court should her security be assured.
Our source said that President Buhari was not in favour of rigging the election but a powerful northern governor who was in Benin with the president has been acting in the name of the president to organise these illegal plot.
The PDP is by this revelation advised to frustrate the plot of the APC by adopting many measures which should include training the agents to be vigilant and insist that INEC staff used normal BIC pens and no special pens. Preferably the agents should go to the polling booth with an extra packet of ordinary bic in case the INEC official complains that they don’t have BIC.
Also, the PDP should write a formal petition to INEC to secure their website and ensure that those INEC IT staff that have been camped at the hotel in Ikpokpan, one of them having a telephone number ending in *** , should be asked to repair whatever they have damaged internally of, as Wike rightly said, “be prepared to write their will”.
Close collaboration by the PDP with national and international NGOs, civil society and the envoys in Nigeria who are accredited to monitor the election is desirable.
We are exposing these as part of our duty to protect our fragile democracy through protecting the rule of law and justice.
