The President of Nigeria, with about ten APC governors, including Nasir Elrufai of Kaduna state and Akinmwimi Ambode of Lagos state, is in Benin to support Obaseki campaign due to panic that has gripped the APC and Adams Oshiomhole because of the overwhelming support that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has with the Edo public.
Despite the widely publicized event, the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, venue of the rally, was virtually empty as many residents of Edo state shunned the stadium saying that they cannot support a president who has caused them untold hardship and suffering.
A resident in Benin who was interviewed said that even if the governors of America joins Oshiomhole to come to Benin, they would still vote for PDP.
“The garrulous governor said the PDP is dead in Edo state. Is it a dead party that Oshiomhole will import Buhari Olu over seven governors to come and campaign for? Been if they like let them invite also the 50 governors of America, o September 10 2016 we shall punish the APC and end their oppression of the people”.
Governor Akinnwumi Ambode of Lagos State, the Chairman of APC Campaign Council, in a derogatory remark stated that “Edo state is not the heart beat of Nigeria but the heart beat of South South.”.
The PDP campaign organisation has called on the Edo people and voters not to panic but to ignore the panic show of desperation of the outgoing governor and his party and vote for the PDP at the forthcoming election.
